The Challenge.
The key challenges were to ensure stability of the online platform and develop a feature rich customer experience, while being able to assist Walker Slater’s key stakeholders by providing strategic and technical guidance to help accelerate their online growth.
An ongoing collaborative approach was required between SixBySix, Walker Slater and key 3rd party services in order to maintain and enhance the online function of the business.
Our Approach
Through a consultative approach with the key stakeholders at Walker Slater, we were able to establish the areas where we could contribute our expertise in order to grow Walker Slater’s online presence.
We were particularly keen to develop a long term strategic partnership with Walker Slater, delivering ecommerce consultancy, expert technical services, UX analysis and design, with an emphasis on increasing conversion rates, in-bound traffic and online sales across multiple channels.

The Outcome.
We successfully managed the migration of Walker Slater’s website from Magento 1 to Magento 2, significantly improving the UX and design to accurately represent the high quality of the Harris Tweed product range.
Through consistent collaboration and a proactive approach, we have been able to successfully implement a variety of key features across the frontend and via 3rd party integrations, while also implementing automated reporting functionality across the website and SEO function to ensure the optimal health of the online presence.
Key Projects
Magento 1 to Magento 2 Migration
Walker Slater required an upgrade from Magento 1, which had reached the end of its life in July 2020, to Magento 2. This transition was critical to avoid security risks and ensure continued feature updates. Our approach included a three-week discovery period with several workshops to identify requirements, leading to a build phase that enhanced user experience, addressed business-specific needs, and improved site performance. A new frontend theme was developed and optimised for speed and fluidity, with product listing and detail pages restructured for better visibility and navigation.

High-Quality Redesign and UX Analysis
We focused on creating advanced configurable bundle products, such as suits, and SEO-focused category landing pages. This redesign aimed to improve the overall user experience and drive higher conversion rates.
US/European Store Setup
To support Walker Slater’s global expansion, we set up dedicated stores for US and European customers, focusing on the US, France, and Germany markets. We scoped end-to-end requirements, including inventory, shipping, returns, and pricing, allowing customers to purchase in local currency with real-time exchange rates and bespoke pricing logic. This enhancement also included demographic-specific landing and content pages supported by language packs, optimising SERP rankings and enhancing the user journey for international customers.
