Through our collaboration, Houston Kiltmakers successfully enhanced their website’s functionality and user experience, solidifying their reputation in the digital marketplace. This not only allowed them to attract a wider international customer base but also ensured their online presence reflected the same level of quality and craftsmanship for which they are renowned.
Key projects
Global/US Expansion
One significant barrier to Houston Kiltmakers’ global sales was the absence of a dedicated US store. Recognising the substantial portion of their clientele based in the US, it became crucial to introduce a US Store within the existing Magento implementation.
We scoped the end-to-end requirements and operational touch points including inventory, shipping, returns, pricing and GeoIP redirection. Allowing customers from US and North America to purchase in local currency with real-time exchange rates and bespoke pricing logic.
This enhancement also focused on setting up demographic-specific landing and content pages assisted by language packs.
Moreover, the US Store View improved SERP rankings by optimising the site for US based traffic. It also enhanced the user journey for US customers by presenting prices in local currency.

Kilt Pack Feature
Houston Kiltmakers sought to streamline the shopping process for their custom Kilt Pack offerings. The project involved creating a custom landing page that adhered to UI/UX best practices, providing custom price calculators and configurable options for selecting a wide range of tartans and Kilt Pack accessories. The custom tartan search function provided exact and close matches, complemented by high-quality imagery and help functions for accurate kilt measurements.
The resulting functionality enabled customers to easily search for and select multiple Kilt Packs, rather than individually searching and adding products. The improved shopping experience led to increased sales and a better overall user experience.
Navigation Menu Revamp
The primary navigation on the site was identified as a major issue in terms of both the customer experience and Kiltmakers’ ability to effectively manage changes to its content and structure.
Through a collaborative approach with Kiltmakers and detailed UX analysis, we proceeded to create navigational designs for mobile and desktop following industry best practices. The design allowed for a modern, snappier and fluid navigation while ensuring the Houston Kiltmakers team could independently manage and administer the menu and new categories through the Magento admin area.
